Well, I don’t know about you but April seemed to pass by pretty quickly in our house. And, so I find myself here again writing the Monthly Voice. Last month saw our kitchen renovations get under way, there was all the fun of the Easter holidays, and I was also busy with some writing work, and putting together The Slow Living Retreat – which I am hoping will be finished by the end of May.
I actually only managed to post here twice throughout the whole month, and I feel like I have had my head down a bit and been really trying to focus on specific things. Even with the Easter Holidays, and less blogging, I am craving rest, rest, rest at the moment so I am trying to honour that and really listen to my body. As we all know, we are all pretty good at putting pressure on ourselves, so that is easier said than done.
Here is the Monthly Voice for April; what we’ve been up to, why I am so tired, and some things we are really loving at the moment.
Happy May everybody, even though so far the month has been pretty chilly here, there are beautiful blooms at every turn. Here in England, the countryside looks particularly abundant during the month of May, and provides some wonderful inspiration.
As part of the ‘Inspired By Nature’ series, today I’m talking to a busy mother who is deeply focused on seasonal and family rhythms. Through her life with her husband and four children, North, Indigo, Juniper and Sage, she works to help other parents create clarity, balance and rhythm within their days with her Seasonal E-Guides. Having lived in Australia for nearly a decade, this family decided to put down new roots in the Canadian countryside. Meagan explains “My vision is to connect and inspire mothers, carers and communities with each other so that they feel empowered to raise children who are wholly connected with themselves (head, heart and hands) and to the planet. I believe from the bottom of my heart that peace begins in the home.”

It seems a little ironic for me to be writing this blog post, as over the last few weeks I haven’t taken much time to myself at all. Like most people I guess, when I am busy, the ‘me time’ is the first thing to go.
With the Easter school holidays, and our kitchen renovation (more coming on that soon), resting has been pretty sparse too.
Rest is of course, fundamental to our well-being, and everyone has their own way of unwinding and relaxing. Perhaps the idea of ‘me time’ for some folk sounds awful. The concept that we all need some time to ourselves to slow down and reconnect makes sense though, doesn’t it?
When I make it onto my yoga mat, it’s an opportunity for me to connect to myself. Firstly through, my breath… with every inhale, and exhale I feel myself arrive… my body, mind and spirit join together. Sometimes it can be the first time that day, that I am truly present in the moment.
Recently my body has been feeling pretty tired, so naturally I have wanted to do a gentle practice; a few postures, and a bit of stretching to get my body moving and work out any creases. A lot of pranayama (breath work) and always a little mediation and relaxation at the end.
