We went on a little nature walk at the weekend.

You don’t have to be in the middle of the countryside to find beautiful bits of nature. We live in a seaside town, and collected this basket full just from walking around our neighbourhood. Nature is always there, trying to live alongside us. I think sometimes we fall into the habit of getting tunnel vision, when you’re just walking around the same streets day after day, you forget to open your eyes and see what’s in front of you.

styling the seasons - april

April means two things to me. As the Easter holidays fall during April, it always reminds me of spending extra time with family. It’s also the time the magnolia trees blossom. Here on the South Coast of England there are about 3-4 glorious weeks, when I get to witness the magnolia buds appearing, opening and then the petals gently falling from the trees. It’s one of my favourite things of the year, as suddenly the trees burst into life and colour.

I thought it was time for a little house update, plus a few pictures of a corner of my home that has recently been spruced.

Even though we have only been in our new house four short months, I feel more relaxed and at home here then I ever did in our previous house. This is somewhat to do with how contented I feel here, and partly because we would never have to move again if we didn’t want to. We can’t outgrow this house in terms of the demands of our family, and knowing that this home has that longevity makes me feel very settled.

Geoffrey & Grace - creative playSomething has been stuck in my head since the weekend, so I wanted to share what’s been buzzing around my brain on here, in the hope that it would help shift it.

I have been describing the 5ftinf workshop to friends and family and sometimes I get the impression that people are finding it difficult to grasp hold of what I was actually doing… “so you were playing with flowers”?! Granted these are mostly people who live outside the world of Instagram. For those of us who love Instagram the way we do, a world without Instagram is hard to imagine. Of course when I show them the photographs, they see how beautiful they are, it all clicks into place, and they get what I was talking about.
