MONTHLY VOICE: SEPTEMBER

The Monthly Voice for September; what's been inspiring me, why moments of slow are as important as ever and how we make bedtime silly in order to help our daughter who has a habit of worrying.September has been and gone and brought with it all the wonderful golden hues of autumn. Fall is quite possibly my favourite season. The sunlight is particularly beautiful in September and October, as the sun gradually gets lower in the sky and seems to soften and glow as it goes.

As the days shorten and the nights get longer, there is a moment of equilibrium with the autumn equinox, followed a few weeks later by the harvest moon, which was particularly spectacular this year in the UK. I was in the car heading east, and as the moon rose and hovered just above the horizon it seemed so perfectly round and luminous.

THE MAGIC OF THE JUST SO FESTIVAL

What a wonderful weekend we had at the Just so Festival in Cheshire. As soon as you walk under the Just So Sign and enter the festival site you feel like you are stepping into a magical world. A chance to forget about all the ‘normal’ day-to-day stuff and get lost in the most creative and imaginative place. Where you can dress up and where pockets of theatre and performance pop up from time to time. Where there are drawing workshops and you can try your hand (or should I say foot) at learning the Charleston or enjoying a silent disco. Everyone seems to be there for the same reasons; to kick back, connect with their loved ones and spread a little bit of love and laughter. I think they are some pretty good intentions to have for a weekend.

What a wonderful weekend we had at the Just So Festival in Cheshire. It was packed full of family fun. We made lots of great memories that there are almost too many to share with you in one blog post.

It’s been a while since I did a Monthly Voice but with that ‘back to school’ feeling thick in the air, I thought it would be the perfect time to resurrect them.

For those that are new to this little corner of the internet, the Monthly Voice is a place for me to share what we have been loving over the last month and some of the things we have been up to. This one is like a bumper bonus edition because I haven’t written one at all over the summer.

FAMILY FESTIVAL TIME: JUST SO

Reading through the Just So Festival website is like stepping into another world - one that is full of magic. For three days in late August, Just So offers a chance to dream, play, get messy, have fun, and step outside day-to-day normality. Find out more details on the Geoffrey and Grace blog... Hello all, I had a dream of a weekend at Sisterhood Camp, more on that later. It got me thinking about our family plans for the summer and what we might get up to.

In August the three of us are off to the Just So Festival at Rode Hall in Cheshire. We’ve never been before but over the last few years I have seen several friends take their little ones along, and it always looks like such good fun.

Happy May everybody, even though so far the month has been pretty chilly here, there are beautiful blooms at every turn. Here in England, the countryside looks particularly abundant during the month of May, and provides some wonderful inspiration.

As part of the ‘Inspired By Nature’ series, today I’m talking to a busy mother who is deeply focused on seasonal and family rhythms. Through her life with her husband and four children, North, Indigo, Juniper and Sage, she works to help other parents create clarity, balance and rhythm within their days with her Seasonal E-Guides. Having lived in Australia for nearly a decade, this family decided to put down new roots in the Canadian countryside. Meagan explains “My vision is to connect and inspire mothers, carers and communities with each other so that they feel empowered to raise children who are wholly connected with themselves (head, heart and hands) and to the planet. I believe from the bottom of my heart that peace begins in the home.”

Please welcome Meagan from Whole Family Rhythms
