Happy May everybody, even though so far the month has been pretty chilly here, there are beautiful blooms at every turn. Here in England, the countryside looks particularly abundant during the month of May, and provides some wonderful inspiration.

As part of the ‘Inspired By Nature’ series, today I’m talking to a busy mother who is deeply focused on seasonal and family rhythms. Through her life with her husband and four children, North, Indigo, Juniper and Sage, she works to help other parents create clarity, balance and rhythm within their days with her Seasonal E-Guides. Having lived in Australia for nearly a decade, this family decided to put down new roots in the Canadian countryside. Meagan explains “My vision is to connect and inspire mothers, carers and communities with each other so that they feel empowered to raise children who are wholly connected with themselves (head, heart and hands) and to the planet. I believe from the bottom of my heart that peace begins in the home.”

Please welcome Meagan from Whole Family Rhythms

MONTHLY VOICE JANUARY

What filled our January days, including, forest school, slow crafting, my new favourite cook book and what I do when I hit a busy spell... Read more on Geoffrey & Grace

I know, I know, it’s more than half way through February. It only seems like a moment ago we were all in that post-Christmas, beginning-of-January lull where things are quiet and you have the whole year stretched ahead of you. How we celebrated our little one turning five, over on Geoffrey & Grace

And just like that, four seasons have been and gone and our little one is another year older.

Five – a whole handful! She is very proud to show people how ‘many’ she is with a thrust of her palm. I’d forgotten what it was like to be little and to feel so excited to be another year older. Bailey has been looking forward to being five for a good few months now. As soon as Christmas had been and gone, she was on to the next highlight of the year… her birthday.

SLOW PARENTING & THE SCHOOL RUN

Tips on slow parenting and the school run on Geoffrey & Grace. How do you get your kids out of the door in the morning in a calm and grounded fashion.

All parents everywhere know how challenging the school run can be. It has the power to turn the most sensible and reasonable grown-up into a quivering mess. What is it about those first few hours of the day? They bewitch us and we end up barking one syllable words over and over again at our children…”SHOES!” “TEETH!” “COAT!”

Honestly, if anyone saw me in the morning trying to hustle Bailey out the door, there is no way they would think I was an advocate for slow living.

I am convinced that time is actually faster for those early morning hours. Every day, without fail, minutes seem to disappear.

Stories from France

stories from France on Geoffrey & Grace

When your family is spread around the world it can’t help but alter what being together feels like. Once or maybe twice a year, if we are lucky, do we all get to exist under the same roof for a day or two, and back in July we had a whole week of family time.

Even though July’s vacation seems a long time ago, the memories are lasting, and I still carry the essence of our time together. I hope when Winter comes, and the sun seems far away, I will be able to close my eyes and transport myself back to our Summer in France. If not, I have this to remind me…
