Back at the beginning of the summer I was sitting at Blogtacular, notebook and pen in hand, ready to listen to Grace Bonney’s keynote speech. The previous 6 months had been busy ones. We were preparing for the summer at Margot, and still establishing what we wanted to do with the beach hut. It’s been almost a week and half since the Margot ladies had a day trip to London for the Mollie Makes Handmade Awards. If you missed the exciting news, Margot was a finalist in the collaboration category alongside two other collaborative projects.

We knew a good day would be had by all, whether we were to win or not. Team Mollie Makes had organised a jam-packed day of mentoring and activities for us to do. Plus it would give us an opportunity to chat everything making and creative with some fellow crafty folk.

Gosh it’s a been a long time since I wrote a ‘threads’ post. It was back at the end of March last year when I wrote ‘To listen to your head or follow your heart?’, and what a lot has happened since then! I mention an exciting opportunity in that post, and you don’t have to be Colombo to work out that I was talking about the East Beach Studios and Margot.

The idea behind the threads series was / is to document what it is like for someone, like me, who likes to make and craft, and is thinking about transitioning into making to sell. Well, I have been in Margot about 6 months now and I can officially say that I ‘make to sell’. I am well and truly transitioned. Although I still have tons and tons to learn.

I am so delighted to be in the latest issue of 91 Magazine.

Leigh Metcalf came to photograph the house back at the beginning of autumn just before we packed up. She also popped down to Margot on one of the windiest days ever. She still managed to take some lovely photos of our beach hut makery, despite the weather.
