Oh I do love a pair of dungarees. I find them so comfy and they go with absolutely anything, which means I end up wearing them lots. I always feel ‘good’ in my dungarees, plus they have the added bonus of having lots of pockets – I’m a big fan of pockets. Read More
April means two things to me. As the Easter holidays fall during April, it always reminds me of spending extra time with family. It’s also the time the magnolia trees blossom. Here on the South Coast of England there are about 3-4 glorious weeks, when I get to witness the magnolia buds appearing, opening and then the petals gently falling from the trees. It’s one of my favourite things of the year, as suddenly the trees burst into life and colour.
Last saturday I had a dream of a day. I went to a workshop run by Philippa Stanton of 5ftinf. It was a lovely small affair and was held at her family home in Brighton. What you see pictured above is one of my creations from what was a fantastic day.
If you haven’t come across Philippa’s work before, have a look at her blog where you can find out more about the work she does as an artist. You should also look at her beautiful Instagram account, where she takes table top stills at the infamous 5ftinf table (which you’ll be pleased to know I took plenty of pictures of).
Her Instagram feed was one of the first I came across, and I instantly fell in love with it for its colour and texture. She sure is good at filling a simple square frame full of colour and joy.
Hello and a warm welcome to Emma Harris who is the fourth person to join in the ‘rooms’ feature. Emma is a full-time mother to two gorgeous girls, and writes a design and lifestyle blog, a quiet style.
I think that is the perfect name for Emma’s blog, as that really describes her taste and style. It is subtle, pretty and understated, and her blog posts have a clear focus on good design. Her blog covers everything she loves; interiors, fashion, her girls (of course), art, flowers, making and photography. “The blog is my main creative outlet, but I also enjoy making, usually quilts, but I’ll give anything a try once!”
Hope you love having a little look-see into her Brighton home. She mixes old and new beautifully to create a fresh light space – a treat for your eyes.
