September’s skies saw two new moons, and a spell of glorious weather. An indian Summer meant bonus time on the beach and even paddling in the sea.
Before October properly takes hold with it’s cool crisp days, let’s look at the ‘Monthly Voice’ for September. Here’s what’s inspired me this month, and some lovely things we’ve discovered that have had my heart…
Bailey is loving this new book by Alice Pattullo ‘An Animal ABC’ the illustrations are wonderful and it’s full of great little facts too. Published by Pavillion books, it’s out on October the 13th and you can get a copy here.
I won this beautiful barrette from Belmto on Instagram! I never win anything! Or more accurately, I didn’t seem to when I was younger, so just stopped entering things like raffles and competitions – but as they say ‘you’ve got to be in it to win it”, so I have started to enter the odd thing again when the mood takes me.
Honestly, I’m pretty rubbish in the hair department. When they were giving out the manuals on how to do hair and make up I wasn’t paying attention, or wasn’t that bothered at the time. However, now I would like to have a few simple hair styles that I could call upon. My hair is pretty long and thick and tends to just get plaited or left… this clip has been great for fixing it back.
Half term doesn’t seem so far away now, and Bailey is doing pretty well adjusting to the long school days. I was right about September feeling like one big transition though, and I think things are just starting to settle down.
I was super excited to be asked to help promote the new Tim Burton movie ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children’, over on Instagram, and was invited up to London to watch a special screening of the movie.
There was a ‘Black Moon’ on September the 30th (two new moons in one calendar month) – that’s pretty unusual. Last month I wrote about tuning into the moon and how it effects us, you can catch up here if you missed it. For those that loved that post, you will probably be interested in reading this article that was recommended in the comments – thanks Charlotte.
We discovered a fantastic new independent children’s label ‘Apolina Kids’. The clothes all feature this beautiful embroidery, and are made in India by artisan embroiderers. We love this dress, the cotton is really soft, and Bailey has been wearing it lots. Plus they do the cutest baby bonnets. Do pop over for a look at their website.
The buggy days are gone and I knew that I would be a little sad to let it go, so I have been on the hunt for a large tote bag to take its place. This one is wonderful from Wolfie and Willow – it’s beautifully hand crafted, and is just the perfect size to fit everything I need on a day out with the little one.
Finally, been loving this this vintage daybed from Elsie Green. and can’t stop listening to ‘Sea Calls Me home’ from ‘Have You In My Wilderness’ by Julia Holter, plus the video is great too. Watch and listen here.
With that, I’ll leave you 🙂 Enjoy October with its Autumn offerings.
