Winter is well and truly here, the sun is much lower in the sky, we’ve had a few frosty mornings, and the mittens are out. It was such a beautiful Autumn this year, full of gloriously warm and sunny days, but it seemed to be over really quickly. Winter always feels like a big adjustment when it arrives, and I’m never quite ready to say goodbye to the golden days of Autumn. At least all the festivities of December provide the opportunity for joy and twinkly moments for the first of the Winter months. I actually really like the depths of Winter, once I get used to the cold and remember to wear my thermals and an extra jumper.
Here’s the Monthly Voice for October and November, including some exciting news about an upcoming online retreat, plus I reflect on how I’m doing with my word for 2017 ‘ease’, and as always a round up of what we’ve been up to and what’s been an inspiration this month…
October started with a wonderful day at Deans Court in Dorset for their annual Honey and Harvest day. It was perfect timing as it was the day of the harvest moon. It was such a lovely way to spend a Thursday as we got to hear about and try lots of new and interesting things; from learning about druids (including trying their homemade sloe gin and taking part in a orchard blessing), to experience some wonderful cooking from Silvana de Soissons of The Foodie Bugle. From hearing about permaculture and walking around the wonderful kitchen gardens of Deans Court, to sharing a wonderful lunch together, (made from vegetables from the kitchen gardens) with the table beautifully laid by The Linen Works.
I was delighted to be interviewed over on the Alex and Alexa Life and Style Magazine, plus to see my images gathered together for the piece was lovely too. Head over here to read the full interview.
I shared some ideas on how to create a mindful bedtime routine in Issue 6 of Project Calm. Plus some self massage techniques to do before bed. The magazine came out in the UK and Europe at the end of November. It will be available in the USA in December and Australia in January. Find out more here including where you can buy a copy.
We’re really loving having our simple kitchen all finished. You can catch up with that post here.
I’ve been wanting to sit in stillness more and more. This is my new favourite place to take a moment for myself. If I think back to the beginning of 2017 when I selected my word for the year ‘ease’, I wasn’t sure how I would be able to manifest more of that throughout my days and weeks. Occasionally, I will notice that it has filtered down into another aspects of my life. If I reflect back on this time last year I am aware that I have more calm and slow moments in my week now and this is as a result of a shift in my attitude and the boundaries that I set.
Bailey and I are really loving the current Nellie Quats collection, especially this gorgeous pinafore – totally in love with the colour. All her pieces are handmade and the finish is just beautiful. See her entire collection here.
If you’re signed up to my newsletter you will have received an email a couple of weeks ago with the exciting news that I am creating another online retreat for you guys.
