Here is the Monthly Voice for May, mostly it was full of lovely things.
The recently re-launched 91 magazine came out mid May and it was lovely to see my work in print. I had the pleasure of writing, styling and photographing the ‘Cook and Craft feature’. It’s a piece about three different makes using beetroot; a recipe for chocolate and beetroot cake, instructions on how to dye some cotton napkins, and a ‘how to’ craft your own gift tags using the beetroot leaves. It’s still available to buy in print here, and you can also buy a digital copy here. Here’s a sneaky peek below…
We have finally had some sunshine and it has started to feel like summer. The sun hats have been dusted off, I found my sandals that have been hiding under the bed since last September, and we have even been outside without coats on!
I am also super excited to announce that I was selected to be a brand representative for Muny. I will write more about this brilliant company soon, as they have such a great ethos behind the beautiful clothes they make, but for now I just had to share the good news, as I’ve struggled to keep it to myself for the last few weeks.
As I mentioned in the ‘slow living nurture‘ post I have been making more time to do ‘not very much at all’, and ignore all the jobs that need doing. I recently read somewhere (can’t remember where) that reading for pleasure is really good for our wellbeing. I have a big pile of books that are tempting me into bed for early nights. Instead of filling my evenings with work, which has been the familiar scene around here recently, I am trying to dedicate at least one night a week to get lost in the pages of a book.
I had a blissful weekend away at Sisterhood Camp. This year we travelled to Wales, as Fforest were hosting, (somewhere I have wanted to visit for about 6 years). Wales always has a bit of my heart, but this was a particularly pretty spot, with the beach just a short stroll away. Sian and her team made us incredibly welcome. The food was wonderful, as was the company. There was time to laugh, to cry, to meet new folk, and rediscover the warm embrace of forgotten friends. Like last year, I left with a wonderful sense of connection and belonging.
Also just a quick little mention, lots of you seemed to love the wooden watch (pictured above) so I have organised a discount for you. Jord have some great watches that would be perfect for fathers day – if you get a wriggle on. Just visit Woodwatches.com and use the code j16geoffreyandgrace20 for $20 off.
Hope May was good for you. Let’s hope the sun keeps shining for the rest of June.
