monthly voice: March

monthly voice: March on Geoffrey & GraceHello, I’m pretty late with the ‘monthly voice: March’, considering it’s the second week of April. I don’t know about you, but two weeks of Easter holidays slows me down somewhat – which was actually perfect timing, as that is just what I needed. Hope you all had a wonderful Easter Holiday / Spring Break, or are about to enjoy a slower pace for a week or two (depending on where you live).

I got so busy towards the end of March that I was struggling to feel anything but tired, so inspiration was thin on the ground. Nature constantly inspires me though, and it’s always my ‘go to’ when I am feeling low. The clocks went forward here in England, meaning there is extra light at the end of the day, which is really wonderful. We managed to get out one Sunday just as the sun was coming down. Dusk is such a magical time of day, and one of my favourites for getting a breath of fresh air, and also of course some picture taking.

I have started piano lessons, and am so thankful to have music in our house. Bailey loves to bang away at the keys, and I see such desire in her to want to make music, even if at the moment it is not always our idea of ‘tuneful’. I have never played the piano before, but learnt other instruments as a child, and am so enjoying being able to take myself off for 10 minutes every now and again to practice. Already I can see how beneficial it is for my wellbeing, it instantly transports me, and even now with my limited skills, I can begin to feel the music flow.

On Good Friday we went to a farm which was in the middle of lambing, and got to hold a baby lamb (just one week old) – pretty wondrous.

With our recent efforts in de-cluttering and simplifying our home I thought it was time to read Marie Kondo’s book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying. I haven’t actually started it yet (as my night time reading spot is already taken) but it’s waiting patiently on my bedside table.

Finally if you were following news of Margot, l am really happy to report that we had such a brilliant response for artist and crafters wanting to be involved, which means… I am completely finished, sooner than I thought. I will miss her dearly, but wish the ladies a fabulous summer down at the little golden beach hut makery.
