I found this beautiful vintage wooden toy cot for Bailey’s 3rd Birthday. It is in a lovely condition, has these really pretty decals on it, and it is the most fantastic shade of pale sea blue.
It came without a mattress, so I cut a piece of foam to the right size. I think the three year old will very much enjoy making dolly’s bed, and I was worried the foam might moult when the cot gets made and re-made, which it will undoubtedly do. I thought it would be wisest to encase the foam in a piece of white fabric that I had sitting in my stash.
Then I also made a little loose sheet from this really pretty vintage fabric. It’s previous life was a duvet cover, which I thrifted from a charity shop. To complete dolly’s bed, one of Bailey’s clever Granny’s crocheted this beautiful blanket, and made a super cute little pillow for dolly too. Granny also made an adorable quilt and a little sleeping bag, so dolly is definitely all set for bedding, and can have dolly friends for sleep overs too.
There is some excellent ‘tucking in’ happening every night, and I wish I had such a lovely sheet and blanket to snuggle down under at the end of a hard days playing – what a lucky dolly.
