SLOW WINTER RITUALS

December can whizz by in a festive frenzy if we’re not careful. That’s why there are some slow Winter rituals that I like to do each year, that help me stay calm. Seasonal things, that I can do mindfully and with intention. Tasks that help me take a breath and slow down.

Having only been in our home a short while, we are just beginning to start our own family traditions. I love to go outside and gather greenery to decorate our home. One of my favourite slow Winter rituals is making wreaths. This one here is Pussy willow and Eucalyptus.

Lighting traditional beeswax candles at this time of year is a simple joy. Their glow is much needed as the days get shorter.

Make sure you take some time to slow down this December. There are so many wonderful wholehearted moments to enjoy if you pause long enough to be present and witness them.

What slow Winter rituals do you enjoy? Would love to know some of your family traditions.

  • I get to read more & watch old movies during winter! I love to cozy up in front of the fire place with a nice cup of tea! xxx

    • Yes, old movies in front of the fire are the best 🙂

  • Christmas is crazy here. The wonders of the wine industry at Christmas! For me it’s important to continue the slower moments from the rest of the year. Dog walks in the morning before the rest of the world wakes up. A peaceful half hour winding down in the evening – pampering myself a little. We gotta hold on to these little things!

  • My slow winter rituals are the same as everyone else’s, I think – I hibernate! I love putting my feet up in front of the fireplace and doing some crafting or reading a book. I used to hate Winter but since I’ve been trying to live more intentionally and in sync with nature I’m really starting to understand why so many people love it.
