Here is Bailey in her handmade doily collar dress. I completed it a while back, but have only just had a chance to take some photos of Bailey wearing it. I really wanted to share some photos of it all finished as I think it’s just lovely (even if I do say so myself). If you missed the earlier blog posts about doily inspiration and the doily collar, then you won’t know that the dress is made from a vintage table cloth – which was thrifted from a charity shop – and a vintage doily, that was my Grandma Peggy’s.
I am planning on making some more to sell at Margot, and eventually they will be in my Etsy shop too! I am going to alter the design slightly, and of course I will have to get a bit speedier at making them.
Then there is the tricky job of pricing them. I have a figure in mind, but am not sure, if as a new establishing maker, the ‘price is right’. Time will tell though, and talking about how difficult I have found pricing as a new maker is a topic for another time. In the meantime I am trying to focus on making beautifully crafted things, and hoping that the more practice I have with ‘making to sell’, the easier pricing will become.
Hope you enjoy the photos, and happy making folks.
