March in the Making

Making March v3

March is going to be all about Making, yes and that is making with a capital M here at Geoffrey & Grace HQ. I have finally decided on some of the things I am going to focus on creating, for what will hopefully be a busy summer down at Margot.

I need to get organised and efficient with my making process, without taking the fun and creativity out of it.

March in the Making

Not sure if I mentioned, but with our lovely new house I bagged myself a little sewing room and office – lucky me. At the minute though it is far from an inspirational place to work. It is in a bit of disarray; there are bags of unpacked fabric, piles of miscellaneous thread and notions, plus the heaps of boring paperwork that comes along with being a grown-up. The first thing on the agenda is to have a big sort.

The thing is, a bit of me just wants to crack on and get making and sewing, without spending the time tidying. I know the sensible thing to do, is to sort first, as it will be time well spent.

…but donโ€™t you sometimes just want to skip to the fun bit?

  • I always wash up in the morning after breakfast, then skip straight to the fun bit! I find that otherwise inspiration and motivation deserts me and I end up making nothing all day. Once my inspiration runs out I do the other, more boring things that have to be done (like tidying and housework!)

That sounds like a good plan Sharon. Think both you and Zoe are right you need to make when inspiration strikes ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I’m terrible at forcing myself to work through my to do list, instead of doing what I really want to be doing. I think you should create when the urge takes you! Most stuff can usually wait. Good luck with your sewing room – how exciting to have your own space. I want to get making in more quantity too – just as soon as the house is a bit more sorted…

Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes I definitely do that too, sometimes the need to achieve and cross something of my list seems stronger than the need to make but I am then often left feeling a bit grumpy and unfulfilled. Getting better though, and you are right you have to go with the urge Xx
